WHERE HAS GOD GONE? .....................................by Harry Watson

//Beach// We were happy with the warm days of spring which came early this year. But as happens every May, winter came back. The weather forecast for this Wednesday night calls for five inches of snow a few miles north of us so we will probably get snowflakes as we did Sunday. So what can we do? We will be thankful for the warm house and will await with eagerness Friday and Saturday when temperatures should be back in the seventies. This happens every year in the month of May, sometimes in June. We get a few warm days, then winter returns. We become agitated and wish for summer to begin sooner.

We are impatient in so many ways. We want things to happen now; we don't want to wait. God doesn't care. God has deserted us. God is not going to help. We decide that God is too busy so we must do it ourselves. So we try to do it ourselves abd disaster results.

I have been fighting this battle of impatience all year. My house has been for sale since December. During this time, two people decided to buy it. Neither one could get a loan from a bank. Now a third person is buying it. We must wait to see if he can find a bank that will lend money. What can I do? Will this go on forever? What is God doing?

The writer of Hebrews was talking about money, or the love of money, when he wrote these words but they are true in many ways other than finances:

"God has said,
'Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.'
So we say with confidence,
'The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.'" (Hebrews 13:5-6)

Are you enduring financial difficulties? Is there a health problem which God does not seem to be helping? Are you having problems in the family or at work or with another person? Whatever the problem you are facing, I can assure you that God is not sleeping; God is not on vacation; God does care. Some of us, like me, need to learn to be more patient. God works in his own time. He will answer. He will not leave us. We can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid."
